this unit was installed this winter to help my wife who has copd and me who was getting cracked nose bleeds and dry skin, also static electric. this unit solved the problems with a 90% effectiveness. would recomend this unit for anyone who has the problems we had. the price of the unit was the best i could find searching the web. will check with discount furnace with anything else that i might need in the future. thankyou

Excellent Unit - No Drain Required

Before purchasing this unit I had a standalone house humidifier - but that was a hassle and did not work well.
I purchased the Aprilaire 400 specifically because it does not need a drain - and thus also uses less water! I bought this from discountfurnacefilter.com because of price, recommendations from other, and the useful information on their site.
Installation was easy - cutting into the existing duct work was the hardest part for me, but if you have some skills in this area it will be a piece of cake. The unit can mount on either the hot or cold side.
The automatic nature of this unit is awesome! The exterior temperature sensor means that the unit knows to lower/raise the amount of humidity intelligently without creating harmful condensation (which is visible on your windows, but invisible and very harmful within your walls!!!!!!). The electronic controls are great and the included damper with clear markings for winter and summer usage make this a complete package.
