The charcoal for our refrigerator filters are made from coconuts.  Coconuts offer a renewable and sustainable source for charcoal and are gown in over 80 countries in the world, with a total production of 61 million tonnes per year.    The husks and shells are used as the source of charcoal. Activated carbon manufactured from coconut shell is considered superior to those obtained from other sources.
